Kohala Country Haven was created for travelers who want more than just a place to sleep. Here, guests can enjoy peaceful mornings, scenic views, tropical surroundings, and a slower island rhythm that feels connected to the land and local community.
Located in North Kohala near Kapa‘au and Hawi, our retreat offers a warm and comfortable home base for exploring one of the Big Island’s most beautiful and less crowded regions. From nearby coastal drives and valley views to quiet evenings on the lanai, every stay is shaped by the natural charm of this special part of Hawai‘i.

Bobi - Kohola Country Haven
For 40 years I've loved living in awesome North Kohala, fell in love with my special property when I first saw it in 1974, raised 3 children "roughing it" but loving adventures in a rural community, adopted 6 and fostered 7, taught school as a sub, K-12 , painted landscapes in oil around the island before the family expanded to 9+ diverse kids, now want to resume my passion for creativity, hosted many musicians and folks interested in sustainable living, healthy choices, loving each other, God and country, and appreciation for our uniquely wonderful treasures here at the end of the rainbow.
I've really enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world and have made some lifetime friendships. Come visit, we hope you'll fall in love with the joys of North Kohala too, create wonderful memories with family and friends, (even business partners) and return for many visits! My daughter reminds me to "always keep smiling"…it's catching!
